Nirupa Shankar, the brain behind the new initiative REAP – Real Estate Accelerator Programme said, “The purpose of the program is to help bring about exponential operating efficiencies not only to our business but the industry at large. The accelerator will give young companies access to deep domain knowledge in the real estate sector and the focus to solve, on ground issues that plague the industry.”

Bengaluru-based developer Brigade Enterprises Ltd on Wednesday introduced an accelerator programme for startups working on technology innovations in the real estate and construction industries. The programme includes 4 months of mentoring programme for the startups working on technologies such as Internet of Things, smart homes, nanotechnology, cleantech, visual computing and augmented reality.

“In real estate, startup investments are mostly in the areas of search, discovery and transaction. The innovations that take place in building technology and related areas should be supported and made scalable businesses,” said John Kuruvilla, chief mentor for REAP.

Real estate being one of the most globally recognised sectors contributing a significant number of jobs and GDP growth. In India, to keep pace with the ever-changing needs of this business is imperative to accelerate the pace of adoption of innovation and disruptive technologies in the industry.

The REAP programme is a real estate accelerator programme which means it will be helping start-ups who have already spent some time and need to go to the next level of their growth wherein they require good mentoring, a bit of finance and giving them opportunities to test their proof of concepts and to take it further.

The strength of REAP lies in its straight forward approach to streamlining the business potential of an innovation, with on-ground challenges and realities. The company invited applications for the first batch of the programme. Applications are open till 15 September and shortlisted startups will be interviewed between 20 September and 25 September. The programme will begin in early October, it said in a statement.
